Computers for Ugandan Schools

25/5/09

Robert Ojwiya, Database Manager in our Portfolio Survey team, has spent the last couple of years leading a community computer project in war-torn Gulu, Northern Uganda. As part of this, Hunters have given the centre and local schools desktops, printers, screens, servers and a bike(!) as part of a container organised by Robert.

The school has 600 pupils aged 6-17, of which many have been orphaned, and these are their first computers. Robert recognised that although NGOs provide basic school infrastructure, they have no IT facilities. He is setting up a charity, the ‘JADA ORPHAN RESCUE PLAN’, to enable the children of north Uganda schools, to have much needed IT facilities available to them.

Robert is sending another container over soon, so if you are interested in offering a donation (Hunters are gathering more computers) then please contact Robert at
