Hunters Score Hat Trick

22/1/10

Hunters were delighted when three separate architectural schemes received planning approval in the same week. In Anerley, South London, a range of affordable housing and community facilities have got the thumbs up as has a six storey mixed-tenure housing scheme in Hackney and a new energy-efficient care home in Thatcham, Berkshire.

Castledine Road, Anerley

The Hunters architectural team has designed a new affordable housing scheme of 22 apartments, a new house and a state of the art community facility next to the local park. A new multi-use games area for local people together with the re-modelling and landscaping of the park will act as a key driver for the regeneration of the area. Green credentials for the homes include photo voltaic panels, high insulation and a SUD system to achieve code level 3. Working with Affinity Sutton, Hilda Lane Community and Hill Partnerships the scheme is to go on site this spring.

Wenlock Street, Hackney

Voted in with a resounding yes, the new apartment block provides a mix of flat sizes to enable affordable family accommodation. Designed to Code 3, the three / four bedroom apartments have balconies in what is a tight urban site which was a former tram store. Working with Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association and Mullaleys the scheme is due to go on site late spring.

Waring Court, Thatcham

Built to replace an existing care home, the new BREEAM rated ‘excellent’ design provides over 50 extra care apartments. Located in the centre of a market town, it is well connected to surrounding amenities whilst also providing in-house restaurants and other services for residents and the public. The home forms part of West Berkshire Council’s wider development strategy of extra care accommodation throughout the county. We will be working with Housing 21 on the project.
